finally! today I got a chance to watch the movie. When I first heard of it, I was totally excited but never in my wildest dreams I am hoping for it to be screened in Singapore. So when I went to the Anime Festival Asia 2010 a few weeks ago and found out that they’ll be screening it, I was speechless. WUT?! <3 XD

Well, the screening place is called Sinema @ Mount Sophia. Here’s some photos of the place from the site:

the cinema is not so big but they got pretty cozy sofas inside that while I’m watching it, it kinda felt homey, which is great (aside that me and my sis need to climb up the hill to reach the darned place, drenched in the humid Singapore evening rain and almost got lost)

okay now, on with the review!

REVIEW **SPOILERS ALERT**

Though the plot was just average but I thought overall, the movie was pretty entertaining. To be honest, I did read the whole synopsis on Wikia before I went to watch it and actually after reading it, I became a little pessimistic that the movie will ran in a pretty cliche direction with a rather serious atmosphere. But well fortunately it didn’t turn out that way.

I thought it started off nicely with a teaser from the trailer where you can see a girl somewhere in Germany being chased by something in the dark alleys. And there’s this scene where a man showed up (with his back to the audience, hints: blonde hair, Polizei uniform andddd… SIDEBURNS. DUH). When that guy started to turn around where we, rabid fans, could clearly see that famous sideburns, the whole cinema went crazy, expecting to see Doitsu’s SRS face appear in any minutes now. But then turned out that he has no face (which means he’s just one of the German polices (um police, ja? XD) turning into this faceless alien).

After that, the scene moved on to a meeting (the Axis and Allies) discussing this alien threat thing. Alfred wants to be a hero, Iggy and Francis started quarrelling as as soon as they both voice out their opinions, which leads to a bloodshed as usual etc etc, and everybody started talking and making noisy scenes (background sound effect: Alfred’s laugh in repeat mode) which gave Ludwig a headache and decided to scold em good. Sounds familiar? lol XD Yea, it’s very similar to the first episode of the APH series where it started off by a scene in the meeting room too XD

As the story went on, they inserted some scenes from the series. You can see the details of the scenes in the above Hetalia wikia link I posted.

And there’s also this additional afternoon soap opera short scene where you can see Chibitalia and HRE holding hands in the middle of the woods and kept saying ‘Italia…”  “Shinsei Roma…” “Italia…” “Shinsei Roma…”  “Italia…”  (repeat for likme 5-6 times) and then it’s over and we went back to the alien story *SRS’D* LOLLL WUT XD it had the whole cinema screaming tho, including me XD

Well all in all, the movie was great fun, the plot was average but there are lots of funny, entertaining scenes XD i kinda like the ending too. Well I’m not saying the ending is super but at least it wasn’t as cliche as I thought it would be and I think it’s pretty good. Overall, I’ll give it a 7/10 =)

Not to mention coz I was watching it in a cinema with other like 20 other fans there (and out of us, there’s only ONE dude lol), it made the experience more fun with all that screaming and squealing when your fave country showed up etc haha XD

but well, that’s about it. and now I’ll write some random ranting review about it. Spoilers ahead still so be careful k? XD:

# PRUSSIA. HE’S THE ONE WHO SINGS THE MOVIE’S THEME SONG “MEIN GOTT” BUT HE ONLY SHOWED UP FOR LIKE LESS THAN 60 SECONDS.
… Mein Gott indeed TAT i think it’s a little unfair and… well… what’s more, I love Prus and would love to see him in more scenes in the movie. he’s a great character T^T

# there’s this scene after they escaped out of the alien’s mothership, and both Axis and Allies were scattered in a remote jungle. DO NOT go to toilets around this scene. watch carefully. in this part, Doitsu will be the first one to show up… with a sexy semi-messy hair (just semi, not the all-fringe bedroom hair from the Christmas scene). and um.. how to put it delicately…

OH GOTT HE’S SO FUCKING HOT THERE GOTTVERDAMMT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! when the DVD came out, I’m so gonna look for the screencaps of that shit and drool XD XD

i know it’s not easy to be something you’re not, and being born with that role without a choice. not by votes. not by recommendations. but by nature. and when expectations fail, it merely left you with nobody to blame but yourself.

i know it’s difficult to disagree with the majority, and to be an outcast. not because of anyone, but because you choose to. it’s just the way you are. and you don’t believe in living a lie, and being happy for something you’re not.

but at least of this you do know well, that you need a different kind of happiness. and doesn’t anybody simply deserves that?

i know you’re tired of all of these.

but sometimes when you feel tired, you often think you don’t deserve to feel so.

and these thoughts of a lot of people out there having bigger problems in their heads keep running in your mind, forcing your tears not to fall.

i guess it’s very difficult, isn’t it?

dear myself,

i hope you do know that

it’s okay to cry when you’re sad and rest when you’re tired, and be honest to your feeling.

you don’t need an approval to be sad.

and you don’t need a license to feel tired.

and you have a right to be honest to what you feel.

be contented to know that people are different.

they have their own share of problems.

knowing this,

you can now let go of that guilt and burden that chokes you to tears.

but remember that this shouldn’t lead to a prolonged self indulgence.

and forgetting where, or who you are.

there are times for everything.

and there are always a tomorrow for a better day.

just keep walking.

there’ll be rivers, mountains, and cliffs ahead but

you’ll learn how to cross them.

as for now,

you can switch off your computer and sleep.

and promise me tomorrow you’ll always be a better someone.
